Bauchi state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has assured that it will provide a level playing field for all members of the party aspiring for various elective positions including defectors from the ruling APC and other political parties that joined the party.
State chairman of the party, Hamza Akuyam made the promise at a press briefing to dispel rumours about a purported report in an electronic media, that the party will give automatic tickets to the defectors at the expense of its other members.
He described the report as malicious and unfounded as the issue has never been discussed at the state level as it is not the prerogative of the state chapter of the party.
He said that the state chapter would be guided by the decisions of the PDP national headquarters on all issues.
Akuyam also disclosed that the party is committed to democratic tenets and will provide a level playing ground to all its aspirants interested in various elective positions in the forthcoming primary elections.
He assured that new members or defectors who stay for two weeks in the party are eligible to contest for any elective offices on the PDP platform.
