Mr. Anibe Achimugu disclosed this when he paid a courtesy call to the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Sagir Aminu Saleh, in his office.
Acimugu stated that the company was pleased to identify with the giant stride that the cotton production has achieved in the state hence, their intention to partner with the government to boost the production of cotton in the state.
He said the company was established to develop rich passion in cotton in the country considering the tremendous challenges facing the cotton production in Nigeria, adding that to achieve this, the company decided to partner with the state government in that direction.
Responding, Bauchi State Deputy Governor who is also the chairman, cotton implementation committee in the state, Alhaji Saleh said the state government appreciate the role of cotton production to the development of the economy and has given its maximum attention to it.
He stressed that Bauchi State is among the states leading in cotton production in Nigeria, adding that the state government would soon open cotton markets in all its 20 local government areas for use by farmers ahead of 2014 cotton farming season.
The Deputy Governor while appreciating the concern of Arewa cotton company especially for identifying with Bauchi State Government in the area of cotton value chain development, said the establishment of cotton ginning will not only encourage farmers to produce cotton but will also provide employment opportunities to the teeming youth in the state.
He assured that the state government will do everything possible to ensure the sustainability of this mutual business relationship.
