Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed concern over the spate of mudslinging and name-calling against the leadership style of the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar.
The governor spoke Thursday at the opening of the 2023/2024 Legal Year ceremony in Bauchi.
“The honourable justice has suffered so much on mudslinging and bad attributes. I think we can call it a day and allow her to continue to serve.
“I sympathise with her for the spate of rumour and name-calling that is prevailing in the judiciary.”

In her remarks, shortly before declaring the legal year open, the Chief Judge, Rabi Talatu Umar, disclosed that she had faced unwarranted criticisms in the course of carrying out her assignment. She further revealed that she had been accused of sidelining a particular religion in appointments of judicial officers. The chief judge said it was impossible that all the 44 high court applicants would be shortlisted for a vacancy of five.
