Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has asked residents of communities that were recently attacked in Alkaleri Local Government Area to rise up, take up arms and defend themselves against the bandits.
The governor stated this Thursday at the Palace of the District Head of Yelwan Duguri, Alh Adamu Mohammed Duguri during his visit to Rimi village, Gwana and Yalwan Duguri to commiserate with the victims attacked by the bandits.
He said the situation was an “unacceptable trend” that must be stopped at all cost.
“You are known to be men, you should not allow these bad elements to subdue you, defend your land and liberate yourselves. You should rise up, take up arms and defend yourselves,” he said.

The governor advised the people to fish out “the bad eggs” collaborating with the bandits, especially those serving as informants, adding that the criminals cannot operate without insiders.
Responding, the District Head of Yelwa Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri said 20 people were killed in Rimi village during the attacks and their attempt to attack Kafin Duguri failed as the villagers rose to defend the village.
