Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has threatened to deal with chairmen of local government areas and any government officials found conniving with bandits to shortchange rural dwellers.
The governor gave the warning Monday during an emergency meeting with local government chairmen and commissioners at Government House in Bauchi over insecurity and deforestation in the state.

He said: “You are supposed to work with your District Heads, sometimes your Emirs, Village Heads and vigilantes, as well as security agencies in your respective LGAs but you are not doing that.
“It is unfortunate that the situation is deteriorating and everybody is looking up to the governor or federal government. The most important thing here is community engagement most especially when there are incidents of connivance between local government officials, even state government officials and traditional institutions with bandits to shortchange our people at the local level. This is unacceptable and we will no longer tolerate this,” the governor said.
The governor also berated the council chairmen over land speculations and deforestation.
