Bauchi gov becomes African Bar Association governing council member

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State  has become a member of the Governing Council of the African Bar Association.
The Executive Council of African Bar Association conveyed the governor’s appointment in a notification letter jointly signed by the president and secretary general of the association, Mr. Hannabal Uwaifo and Mrs. Flaviana Charles, respectively.
According to the notification letter, the governor’s election to the governing council was sequel to his nomination by the Qualifications Committee upon request by the West African delegation and the subsequent elections and ratification by a joint meeting of the executive council and the technical board held in Nairobi, Kenya on March 6, 2016.
The letter stated that the election was also based on the confidence the association has in the ability of the governor to pilot the affairs of the African Bar Association to an enviable height because of his outstanding records as a celebrated Bar leader, accomplished lawyer and a statesman.
The African Bar  Association is an association of distinguished African lawyers.
Its governing council is the highest organ of the African Bar Association, consisting of 64 members.
Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar is an accomplished lawyer and the present executive governor of Bauchi State.
He was called to the bar about four decades ago.
