The Captain of the Bauchi Golf and Country Club, Gazali Abubakar has stated that, the Club has recorded a lot of success in the last three years.
He disclosed this while speaking at the sidelines of the North East qualifying rounds of President Buhari Golf Cup Tournament held in Bauchi.
“Honestly speaking, there are a lot of progresses that have been made since when I took the mantle of leadership of the club. As you can see, as you go through the Course, you can see that the Browns have been well maintained; the Bunkers have equally been well maintained.
“Even the Club House as you can see is looking like a new one. It is because of the good management under my leadership that we were able to put everything in place and the support we are getting from his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State,” he said.
He added that, Governor Abubakar has committed so much resources to see that golf is developed and mainstreamed into the state’s tourism development initiative.
Gazali noted that, the support given by Governor Abubakar and other initiatives has helped a lot in maintaining ýthe tempo and enthusiasm towards Golf in the state.
“He really supported us financially in whatever way seek for his assistance. And equally, we made it mandatory for all members to pay off their dues, which is unlike before. In the past, most of the members are not paying as at when due. So, we made it a duty to collect members’ annual dues. If you refuse to pay, we will disqualify you from playing in the Club or competitions,” Gazali added.
He however lamented that despite the encouragement ýto members of his cabinet to play golf, they have abandoned the game.
