The Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwani Suleiman Adamu, has charged Imams to focus on educating their congregation on COVID-19 pandemic in their sermons during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr prayers.
The Royal father, who spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting on coronavirus, said the call became imperative considering the attitude of the people towards the disease.
The monarch expressed concern over the low-level awareness of the virus in Bauchi.

“I am extremely worried about the attitude of many people who don’t believe that COVID-19 is real. Please, as Imams and leaders, use this opportunity to educate our faithful on coronavirus because a good number don’t believe about the disease.
“Religious leaders, traditional institutions, and other opinion leaders must all join hands together to scale-up the sensitisation so that collectively we can fight the deadly virus from our state and the country in general,” he said.
The traditional ruler also announced the cancellation of all other celebrations, especially the Durbah during this year’s festivity.
