Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA) has earmarked N225,509,000 for distribution to caregivers of orphans and vulnerable children the state.

Executive Chairman of the agency  Ibrahim Abdullahi said process will start with four selected wards in Bauchi LGA which include; Dankade, Miri, Birshi, and Liman Katagum, which he said are the pilot beneficiaries and will received N3 million.

It is to implement the  Family Economic Empowerment Programme (FEEP) in the 323 wards of the state, which includes petty traders, entrepreneurs whose starting capital is very low.

The Chairman commended the support being given to the agency by Governor Mohammed Abubakar saying that the agency will have a result oriented social investment scheme which will financially empower the vulnerable adding that the programme was conceived in accordance with the National Priority Agenda (NPA) on OVCs response.

In his remark, Governor Mohammed Abubakar charged the caregivers to use the resources given to them judiciously and take care of  wellbeing of the OVCs under their care.

In his Goodwill message, the Bauchi State chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Hashimu Gital who is also a BASOVCA board member, commended the board despite the economic challenges, the administration is ready to act on issues of OVCs in the state with the unflinching support of the workforce in the state.
