Bauchi APC exco sacks chairman

The State Working Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State yesterday passed a vote of no confidence on its embattled Chairman, Babayo Aliyu Misau and replaced him with his deputy, Mohammed Hassan Tilde as new chairman.

The State Legal Adviser, Rabiu Garba, who made this known while briefing journalists at the State Secretariat of the party, explained that 27 out of the 37 members of State Working Committee at an emergency meeting of the party passed the vote of no confidence on Misau and replaced him with Tilde in line with the Constitution of the party.

“Babayo Aliyu has failed as chairman, we are therefore left with no option but to pass a vote of no confidence on him so that we can move ahead as a political party. As you can see, 27 out of 37 members of the State Working Committee are here, we discussed the lingering leadership situation in the party and agreed to remove Babayo Aliyu Misau as the Chairman. Therefore, from now, he has ceased to be the Chairman” Garba said.

Garba said that the former chairman was called to order on several occasions but he refused to change, leading the party contrary to the guidelines and constitution of the party.

Garba added that the decision has been communicated to the National Secretariat of APC in Abuja as well as the National Chairman, Umar Ganduje.

In his acceptance, the new chairman described the development as imperative to save the party.

Efforts made to get the reactions of the sacked chairman proved abortive as he neither picked several calls nor responded to text messages sent to him as at the time filing this report.
