Some basketball fans in Lagos have commended the Nigeria’s U-18 female basketball team, J’Tigress for their superlative performance at the ongoing Afrobasket Championship in South Africa.
J’Tigress beat Egypt, 66-51 to book their semifinal ticket and would play Uganda for a place in the final which would guarantee an automatic ticket to the FIBA U-18 World Championships scheduled to be held in Switzerland.
The fans in separate interviews told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the victory was well deserved.
Adeyemi Olufemi told NAN that the team did well to beat à well coordinated Egyptian team and should keep up the good work.

“It’s a good result; they deserve the accolade, however, they need to up their game against their Ugandan counterparts who are equally good.
“A victory for them in the semifinals will see them qualify automatically for the world championships,” Olufemi said.
Another fan, Emeka Nwani, told NAN that he was confident in the team having played their way into his heart.
“They have done well and should be commended for their efforts, but there’s still work to do and that they must not rest until they accomplish the next task ahead of them,” Nwani said.
Another basketball fan, Tubosun Adesesan, said that the team was capable of reaching the final.
“The team is a well tutored side and has quality three-point shooters; they can reach the final and win the competition if they continue the way they started,” Adesesan said. (NAN)
