A Prominent producer and Chief Executive Officer, Hashwannar Movies, Habib Barde has emerged unopposed as the new Chairman, Abuja chapter of Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN).
Movie maker, Bala Mu’azu Kufaina and producer, script writer and Editor of Leadership A Yau newspaper, Nasir S. Gwangwazo were elected as Vice Chairman and Publicity Secretary of the association respectively.
Secretary of Kano state chapter of MOPPAN, Mohammed Salisu (Officer) and prominent filmmaker, Hamisu Iyantama were Chairman and Secretary of the election committee respectively.
Daily Trust gathered that the election held recently in Abuja.
Speaking after the swearing-in, the new chairman, Habib Barde who obtained a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Broadcasting in Columbia College Hollywood CA USA in 1985 promised to take the association to the promised land.
Barde, who co-produced a Kannywood blockbuster movie titled ‘Sarki Jatau’ and currently working on two hit movies, ‘Nihla’ and ‘Kece Raini’ added he wouldn’t betray the confidence to lead the members of the association reposed on him.

MOPPAN is an umbrella body providing guidance and capacity building for the development of the Hausa film industry popularly known as Kannywood.
