Barcelona are confident of signing Paris St-Germain star Adrien Rabiot despite Liverpool making contact with the mother and agent of the French midfielder.
Rabiot has entered the final year of his PSG contract and has rejected multiple offers to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.
The 23-year-old, who spent time at Manchester City as a teenager, will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of France in January.
But the battle for his signature will be fierce.
Barcelona were heavily linked with Rabiot during the transfer window but PSG refused to sell.
Now, Italian website Calciomercato claim that the Catalan giants are ‘confident’ Rabiot, who is reportedly demanding wages in excess of £138k per week, will be their first signing of next summer’s transfer window.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have already made steps to secure the four-time Ligue 1 winner.
ESPN FC claim Klopp is a long-time admirer of Rabiot and attempted to sign him during his Borussia Dortmund days.
A source told the website that Klopp has spoken with Rabiot’s mother and agent on the phone about a move to Anfield next year.
