Barau welcomes NNPP members to APC

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has welcomed members of the Association of Katsina State Indigenes in Kano to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The members of the association, also known as; ‘Na Dikko Dakin Kara’ under the leadership of Alhaji Usman Abdullahi Masari, announced their exit from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) to the APC during their visit to Barau’s residence in Abuja.

After receiving the decmapees, Senator Barau hailed their decision to join the APC, assuring them that they would be treated equally like all other party members.

“I want to use this opportunity to welcome you to our great party, APC. I’m happy with the way you people are living peacefully. Your unity and cooperation have contributed to not only the growth of businesses but also the development of Kano State. I am glad you joined us in our quest to develop and transform Kano State.

” We have listened to your various complaints. Rest assured that you are in the right place. I welcome you all and thank you for coming,” he said.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi Masari, lamented how they were unfairly treated in the NNPP.

He said, “Kano has done everything for us, and we will never forget the state. But we joined Kwankwasiyya without knowing Senator Barau was the right man to be with. So all of us, with our over 6,000 members, have today decamped to the APC. We have abandoned NNPP.

“Your Excellency, as business owners and grassroots politicians, I believe we have the capacity and capability to contribute to the development of Kano. We are with you 100 per cent, and we will support you in developing Kano,” he said.

Also speaking, former ALGON Chairman in Kano State, Hon Inuwa Zangina Dangada, assured the association of Senator Barau’s commitment to addressing the state’s challenges.

On his part, former Chairman of the Hajj Camp Marketers Association, Alhaji Naziru Abdullahi Sule, said joining the association will strengthen the relations between Senator Barau and business people in the state.

He lauded Senator Barau’s tireless efforts in supporting various markets through his several interventions at Kano State.

The high point of the visit was the presentation of the association’s award of excellence to the Deputy President of the Senate, saying the establishment of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will go along way in addressing the challenges facing the North West geopolitical zone.
The Deputy President of the Senate sponsored the bill to establish the NWDC.
