The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has assured the management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) of his continuous support towards addressing the challenges facing the institution and the education sector in the state and the country as a whole.
Senator Barau gave the assurance when the university’s management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, paid him a courtesy call at the National Assembly, Abuja yesterday.
The vice chancellor had commended the Deputy President of the Senate for his support and solicited his assistance in addressing the challenges facing the institution.
He appealed to Barau to assist in providing accommodation to medical students in rural areas in line with the requirements of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Responding, Senator Barau pledged to continue to support the university, describing education as the bedrock of the development of every society.
