Fidelity Bank says it has earmarked N5million naira to empower vulnerable girls acquire skills across the country.
A Bank Manager, Waziri Usman, made the disclosure, Wednesday at Wetlands event hall during the graduation ceremony of some beneficiaries of the Herfidelity program in Yola.
Speaking at the event, Waziri explained that the hefidelity apprenticeship program is in collaboration with Wetlands Human Development Service.
He reiterated that programs like this gives them the opportunity to drive the necessary conversations around promoting a world free gender bias and discrimination and a world where women are given the freedom to fulfil their highest potentials.
Wazirin reiterated that places they have rendered their gestures to were Adamawa, Kano, Lagos and Imo.
“We donated a total sum of 5 million naira and Sewing Machines to five female-led enterprises for the training of female apprentices. Taken from across the country, the five businesses are: Wetland Human Development Center, Yola, Adamawa; Mdee Tailoring & Fashion Design, Kano; Lady Mechanic, Lagos; BCA Ventures, Owerri and Lady Benz, Lagos”.
In her remarks, Hajiya Maisaratu Bello, the owner of Wetland Human Development Centre, said with the tailoring skills acquired, the girls will be financially independent and be job creators than depending completely on families or husbands.
A beneficiary, Basira Abdullahi said the tailoring skills she has acquired will go a long way in making her self reliant.
The first beneficiaries of the Fidelity Bank’s vocational training program for female entrepreneurs in Imo state.
The program, which began in June 2022, trained these young women to become fashion designers and helped them start their own businesses. BCA Ventures, a clothing design and fashion business in Owerri, Imo State, is one of the success stories of the program, having graduated over 100 women who have started their own businesses.
