Bandits still holding KadPoly lecturer, daughter

Two weeks after their abduction, a lecturer with the Kaduna State Polytechnic, Engineer Ramatu Abarshi, her daughter and a commercial driver conveying them to Kaduna have not been released.

Daily Trust had reported how the lecturer and her daughter, who were traveling in a chartered vehicle, were kidnapped by bandits near Kasuwan Magani, in Kajuru LGA, after a humanitarian service at Mariri community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State on 24 April, 2022.

Stop labelling our men bandits, Fulani women warn

Sources from Mariri had told our correspondent that as part of her Barkindo-Rahama Initiative, the engineer often distributes household items to the less privileged, the latest were cloths and other basic items to orphans ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Our correspondent, who visited the family home in Kaduna, gathered that the engineer and her daughter are still being held by their captives though negotiations are on.

A source within the family who pleaded anonymity said the family is not willing to comment on the issue because the various stories reported on social media on the incident almost jeopardized the lives of their loved ones.

Daily Trust Saturday recalls that the bandits had demanded N100 million ransom for their release.
