Bandits shoot 2, steal foodstuffs in Kaduna

Bandits reportedly shot and injured two persons identified as Rilwan Usman and Usamatu Ibrahim while stealing foodstuff, phones and recharge cards in Janjala community in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.

A resident, Shehu Rabiu, said the incident happened around 7pm when Muslims were observing Magrib prayers.

He explained that the bandits, who came from the neighbouring Kuchimi village axis along the River Gurara, rode on motorcycles and started shooting sporadically and that two residents were hit on their legs.

He said the two victims had finished ablution and were walking to the mosque to join the congregational prayers when the bandits started shooting.

He further said that the bandits raided provision shops and stole foodstuff, phones, recharge cards.

The Village Head of Janjala, Aliyu Ibrahim, could not be reached on phone, but one of his aides who craved anonymity confirmed the incident.

City & Crime recalls that over 100 troops were said to have stormed the forest around Janjala, Kuchimi, Taka- Lafiya, Iche and other neighbouring villages in search of bandits.

There was no response from the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command on the latest incident.
