Bandits have raided the private residence of the late emir of Jere in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State, late Dr Sa’ad Usman, abducting a man, identified as Hussaini alongside his wife and her four-month-old baby.

A resident of Jere, Mu’azu Adamu, who confirmed the latest kidnapping incident over the phone to our reporter on Monday, said it happened on Sunday, around 11:23 pm.

He said the woman, however, later escaped with her child as they were being led by the bandits to raid another house in the area.

He said the bandits, who came in their numbers armed, proceeded to Anguwar Salanke and abducted another resident identified as Baba Na’ibi, while injuring other people identified as Ahmad and Musa.

“Actually, one of the victims was hit by a stray bullet when the bandits shot into the window of the house of Baba Na’ibi, while the second was injured by the shattered window pane of the house,” he said.

He said the two injured victims were taken to the hospital.

The Jere emirate council’s secretary, Malam Aliyu Zubair, confirmed the kidnapping, saying six people were abducted in the area based on the information at his disposal.

He said the bandits invaded the late emir’s private around 10:12pm on Sunday, and abducted one person, before proceeding to a neighbour’s house, where they whisked away five people.

“And before the police arrived, the bandits had escaped. It was our vigilantes who tried to engage them, but they were overpowered because the guns the bandits were carrying were more sophisticated than those of the vigilantes,” he said.

City & Crime had reported that bandits on December 11, 2022 invaded three villages in Kagarko and Kachia LGA of Kaduna State and abducted 37 people.

Also on December 12, 2022, bandits abducted a Fulani leader, Aliyu Abdullahi, popularly known as Ardon Maganda, who was on a motorcycle going back home after attending a security meeting at Janjala in the area.

There was no official response from the authorities of the Kaduna State Police Command over the incident as at the time of filing this report.
