Bandits kill vigilante, 1 other in Kaduna

Bandits have killed a vigilante and another person in an attack on a filling station in Bagoma Dam, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. 

Three persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in the attack that happened on Tuesday. 

It was gathered that the assailant also abducted a woman and her children.

The incident happened a few hours after bandits raided a local mosque in the Ga Allah Babba community in the same local government and killed the imam and one other worshipper.

“A vigilante (Mu’awiyya) and one internally displaced person (IDP) from the Dagara community were killed while three others sustained various degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital, Birnin-Gwari. Several people were abducted by the terrorists this evening at BAGOMA DAM,” Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, Chairman of Birnin Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, said in a statement. 

Another resident simply identified as Muhammadu told Daily Trust that after the bandits left the Bagoma area, they attacked another community called Angwar Shakaru, killing a middle-aged man and abducting his wife and children. 

Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU) Chairman, Ishaq Kasai, also confirmed the attack on the filling station. 

The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, couldn’t be reached on the phone and is yet to reply to a text message sent to him on the issue.
