Bandits on Saturday killed six people and left eight others with various degrees of injuries in Chikun and Giwa Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, Samuel Aruwan, said the gunmen killed Nehemiah Ishaku and Yunana Mai-Mulo in Maskoro community of Kakau ward while Haruna Dogo and Danjuma Jagaba were killed in Akunakwo community of Gwagwada ward, both in Chikun Local Government Area.

Aruwan also said that in a separate incident between Hayin Inji and Kidandan town in Giwa Local Government Area, armed bandits attacked and killed one Alhaji Yahuza Jinaidu in a bid to dispossess him of his motorcycle.

He also confirmed Friday’s attack at ‘Yan Rake’ in Galadimawa of Giwa Local Government Area, where bandits wielding sophisticated weapons opened fire on residents and dropped an explosive device that killed one person and left nine others injured.

He gave the names of the victims as Usama Mohammad, Buhari Rabiu, Buhari Rabe, Waazzamu Audu, Sani Hamisu, Dini Saleh, Mai Lado Mai rake, Sabitu Isa and Kabiru Lado. He, however, said Kabiru Ladi died as he was being rushed to the hospital.

“Governor Nasir el-Rufai expressed deep sadness at these reports and prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain, while sending his condolences to their families. He urged security agencies to ramp up responses to curb such attacks,” he stated.
