No fewer than five persons were killed and hundreds of cattle rustled in two separate attacks in Shegyam and Dogon Ruwa villages in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Abdullahi Usman, a resident of Wase town, said the gunmen invaded the villages in the early hours of Wednesday.
Usman said the gunmen first attacked Shegyam where they killed two persons and later proceeded to Dogon Ruwa where they killed three other persons and rustled hundreds of cattle.
Daily Trust gathered that prior to the attack in the said villages, gunmen had on Tuesday invaded Sapio village and abducted two women.
When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident but couldn’t ascertain the casualty figure.
- He said reports from the field indicated that a wounded victim had been taken to the hospital and that he was awaiting full details of the attack.
Daily Trust reports that between late last year and early this year, villages of Wase had suffered several banditry attacks which had resulted in the loss of lives and property.
