The Kaduna State government said a total of 323 people have been killed and 949 others abducted across the state between January and March 2021.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed the figure Friday at the 1st quarter of the year’s security meeting held in Kaduna.

According to him, 64 bandits were killed by troops, and many neutralized in several air operations in about 150 air missions carried out across the state.

He said the Kaduna Central Senatorial zone was the highest hit compared to other zones in the state.

“Out of the 323 citizens killed, 292 were males; 20 females, and 11 minors. All the 236 deaths occurred in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Giwa and Kajuru LGAs.

“Birnin Gwari recorded the highest figure of 77 deaths, followed by Chikun with 52; Igabi 45, Giwa 42 and Kajuru 20 deaths in the first quarter.

“Southern Kaduna Senatorial District had 68 deaths in total, of which 5 were women and two below the age of 18,” he said.

Aruwan further added that 3,289 animals were rustled across the state, saying out of the number, 2,919 occurred in Kaduna Central Senatorial zone.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who lamented the rising insecurity in the state and country in general, assured the government will overcome the challenges and come out stronger.
