Bandits kill 2 villagers in Kaduna

Suspected bandits attacked Idu village in Kufana District, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two villagers.

The attack occurred on Wednesday around 8:30 pm, with the victims identified as Mr. Sadiku Saleh and Mr. Aliyu Kabiru, both residents of the area.

Daily Trust obtained a letter written by Mr. Stephen Maikori, the overseer of Kufana District, confirming the incident to the traditional ruler of Angwan Kufana on Thursday.

In the letter, Maikori stated that the bandits also looted shops and houses, stealing provisions, foodstuffs, and other valuable items during the raid.

“I write to report to you that on Wednesday, 8/1/2025, at around 8:30 pm, armed bandits attacked Idu village and killed two persons—Mr. Sadiku Saleh and Mr. Aliyu Kabiru.

“It is worrisome that other villages in the community, such as Randa, Makaranta, Sabongida and Libere, have been deserted due to incessant attacks by bandits,” he said.

He further appealed for intensified security intervention to protect the lives and properties of villagers, adding that the incident had been reported to security agencies.

The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached for comments as calls to his phone failed to connect.

Daily Trust recalls that this attack comes just days after the state government initiated a peace deal with bandit kingpins in an effort to curb insecurity in rural areas.
