Bandits on Sunday attacked Kanya, a community in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing one person and abducting the district head, Alhaji Isah Daya, along with seven others.
The midnight raid resulted in the death of Sheriff Almu, while three others, suffering from gunshot wounds, are currently receiving medical treatment.
The incident occurred just two days after bandits killed the APC chairman of Suru Local Government Area, Alhaji Bako Bala, in his hometown, Takalafiya. Also, one person was abducted in Matseri village, located in the Bunza area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the attack, stating that a combined security team, led by the police, has launched a manhunt to rescue the abducted individuals and apprehend the assailants.

The state’s governor, Nasiru Idris, expressed concern over the abduction of the district head and others. He assured the public that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is doing everything possible to secure their release.
He said the state government has also provided essential logistics to strengthen the fight against banditry in the area.
