Bandits kidnap DPM, doctor in Niger

The Director of Personnel Management (DPM) in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi Malami, and a veterinary doctor with the Department of Veterinary Medicine in the local government, Musa Mohammed, have been reportedly kidnapped.

 Daily Trust gathered that the DPM was kidnapped on Friday on his farm along Kontagora-Mariga Road alongside some labourers working with him while the veterinary doctor was reportedly abducted on Thursday morning while returning to Kontagora from surrounding villages where he had gone to vaccinate animals.

Daily Trust gathered that bandits who later called to inform the family that they were at a location in Katsina State had demanded N15 million ransom.

 Speaking on the kidnap of the veterinary doctor, a reliable source said he was kidnapped on Thursday while coming back to Kontagora from where he had gone to vaccinate animals in some villages.

 He lamented that kidnapping has become constant on Kontagora-Mariga and Kontagora to Rijau roads, calling on the government to take decisive action to tame the tide.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached on telephone at the time of filing this report. He did not also respond to a message sent to him.
