Bandits free 3 of 9 abducted Kagarko emir’s grandchildren

Bandits have freed three out of the nine abducted grandchildren of the Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad, in Kaduna State.

City & Crime had reported that bandits on May 7, 2023, invaded the emir’s private house and whisked away the three of his daughters, six grandchildren and four of their neighbours.

Confirming the release of the three children through telephone on Tuesday, a palace source who preferred anonymity, said the three children were freed on Saturday evening in a forest in Kachia LGA.

He explained that an undisclosed ransom was paid after intensive negotiation with a family member of the emir before the victims were freed.

He noted that the bandits released only three children and insisted not to free the others until the balance of the ransom was paid.

The source added that, “If you recall, the emir insisted that he had no money to give them, but one of his family members struggled to source some money before they released the three.”

The Palace Secretary in Kagarko, Yahaya Ibrahim, confirmed the release of the three children among the abducted victims but declined to speak further because of security reasons.

There was no response from the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command on the development.
