Worried by the incessant bandit attacks in Niger, some youths in the state have taken to the social media to score their governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello below in comparison with his counterparts in Kaduna, Borno and Zamfara.

The youth described their governor as a ‘Ghost governor’ who doesn’t care about the killing spree in the state.

The post on the ‘Nigerlites speak out’ Facebook page received a lot of backlash as they insisted that they have a ‘Ghost Governor’ in the state.

The governor was accused of not showing any concern about the people being attacked, adding that the indifference  has continued to make the bandits have a field day attacking people on daily bases.

While comparing Bello with his counterparts in Kaduna, Borno and Zamfara they said he fails behind and does not measure up to them.

Nigerlites react

The post that generated such reactions was posted by one Farida Bosso which read, “Bandits are killing people in Niger state communities. In Kaduna State, we saw El-Rufai present in most scenes, Zulum is in every scene in his state, same to Matawalle of Zamfara state. But in Niger state, we have a Ghost.”

The post which had over 70 comments gave majority of the youths avenue to vent their anger.

One Khadijah Sumbo in her comment said, “Stop comparing El-Rufai and Zulum to your governor” while Kabiru Pawa said, “We have a ghost governor in Niger state.”

Also, Tafida Jibidiga said, “Lolo is a failed governor. If it all you witness the scene of these killings, you will understand why we are saying all these.” While Sagir Shehu said, “He is busy attending APC registration and realisation exercise than to concern himself about his state.”

Our governor doesn’t care

Yahaya Ibrahim who asked rhetorically said, “The Governor we have in Niger state, is he a governor? He doesn’t care. To pay salaries, he cannot, is it to protect the people that he will do? Kidnappers are busy kidnapping people along kwakuti to Lambata road since Friday, what have the government done? We have no power to challenge them, Allah does and we leave them to God.”

And Umar Idris in his own reaction said, “Actually, we do not even have a governor in Niger state.”

The reaction is coming following recent killing of over 21 villagers and abduction of 40 people in four communities in Shiroro local government area of Niger state.

Although, Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, who reacted to the recent killing and abduction said the number of victims has not been ascertain.
