Suspected armed bandits yesterday abducted at least 60 people in an attack on Rini community of Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Daily Trust gathered.
A national commissioner in the National Population Commission in charge of Zamfara State, Alhaji Muttaka Rini, who is also a native of the community, told our correspondent that the armed men stormed the community around 2am and began to fire shots into the air.

He said they were moving from one house to another, abducting residents.
“From the information I got, they kidnapped 61 people, including women and children and are yet to demand for anything. They fired several shots, then herded the abducted people into forest. Some people were also injured as a result of the gunshots,” he said.
Our correspondent gathered that dozens of residents have left their houses and are taking shelter in relatively safe places in the state.
Communities in the local government area have witnessed a series of attacks by armed bandits in recent weeks, including the abduction of students from the College of Agriculture and Animal Science.
Earlier, dozens of residents were kidnapped from Yarkufoji, a community located few kilometers from where the abduction on Friday took place.
