The Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, has directed all the district and village heads under his emirate to form what he called security observers in their various communities.
Speaking during the community policing council meeting he convened at the weekend in his palace, he charged the district and village heads to ensure that the security observers they form watch movements of people particularly strangers or visitors in their respective communities and settlements in the emirate.
While charging them to ensure maximum compliance with the directive, he emphasised that any visitors that arrived their communities or villages must be made to report to the district, village heads or community leaders to ascertain the sincerity of his visit before he or she is allowed to settle or dwell in the area.
He also warned them to be very careful in the recruitment of people into the security observers’ team so as not to bring in criminal-minded people that might work against the success of the security team.
The royal father, while drawing the attention of the district and village heads to the security challenges facing the country and Kebbi state in recent time, urged the district and village heads to be security conscious and ensure that their respective communities are rid of criminal elements.
He said “The standing order of the security observers you are directed to form is to watch movements of people particularly strangers and visitors that are coming into your communities”.
The Divisional Police Officer in Yauri, CSP Ishaya Umar, commended the emir for showing concern on security situation in his emirate.
While welcoming the idea of the security observers by the emir, he assured the royal father of police continuous support and protection of lives and properties in Yauri Emirate.
