The House of Representatives has called on the federal government to address the plights of victims of banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities of terrorists in Giwa and Birnin Gwari local government areas of Kaduna State.

This followed the adoption of a motion moved by Shehu Balarabe (APC, Kaduna) Thursday.

The lawmaker stated that attacks, killings and kidnapping of innocent citizens, as well as the destruction of their property by bandits, had taken awful dimensions and had become a daily affair in Giwa/Birnin Gwari Federal Constituency of the state.

Balarabe said over 60 communities were displaced in Birnin Gwari while 42 were affected in Giwa Local Government Area.

He noted that despite the efforts of the Kaduna State Government, the affected persons were immensely in urgent need of attention and support.

After adopting the motion, the House urged the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development; the National Emergency Management Agency, and the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, to urgently intervene and assist the affected communities.

It mandated its committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness to ensure compliance.
