The village chiefs of Chakumi and Tubudu communities of Gurdi Ward in Abaji Area Council of the FCT, Mohammad Magaji and Salihu Magaji respectively, and their subjects have fled their communities after bandits invaded them, raped women and harvested their farms.

Chief Magaji, who confirmed the latest attack through telephone to our reporter on Thursday, said the bandits in their large numbers riding motorcycles with sophisticated weapons invaded the community on Tuesday night.

He said the bandits who raped some women in an attack which lasted three days, harvested farms and fled with the produce.

He explained that six women were raped by the bandits, a situation he said which forced him and his subjects to run to neighbouring Daku village in Gwagwalada Area Council.

On his part, Salihu Magaji said the bandits invaded his community, raped women and stole farm produce.

He explained that he managed to escape from the community when the bandits came searching for him.

He said, “In fact, two women that were also escaping almost got drowned while crossing River Gurara to Daku village on Wednesday when the bandits came shooting sporadically.”

The Councillor representing Gurdi Ward, Ishaya Wozhen, who confirmed the incident while speaking with our reporter through telephone on Thursday, said the bandits also invaded neighbouring Paikon-Bassa and Kutura villages and went away with farm produce after raping some women.

The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to confirm the incident to our reporter.
