Bandit, vigilante die, 3 abducted in Kaduna gun duel

A bandit and a vigilante member have died in a gun battle at Gadan Wanzam in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Daily Trust has gathered.

The incident happened around 11pm on Tuesday after the bandits invaded Madara village and abducted three females.

The vigilante member killed was identified as Labiru Abduhamid, a younger brother to a Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) ward supervisor from Ungwar Rimi Gangara.

A member of KADVS in the area, who craved for anonymity, confirmed the attack. He said their members pursued the bandits and engaged them in a gun battle at Gadan Wanzan shortly after abducting the victims.

“The bandits killed one of our personnel but our men also gunned down one bandit during the fire exchange,” he said.

A resident gave the names of those abducted as Maryam Al Ameen, Maryam Rabi’u and Amira Bilyaminu.

The Police ýPublic Relations Officer in the state, ASP Jalige Mohammed, couldn’t be reached on phone as of the time of filing this report.
