Balance work with family life, NPA MD charges women

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, has advised her female folk to balance work with family life, saying, “A woman needs to know when to draw a line and learn to devote quality time with the family devoid of the interference from office activities.”

Usman, however, cautioned women not to be afraid of starting small as such ventures would always blossom to their advantage if they remained focused on core issues.

Usman, who was speaking at a round table cum luncheon organised by Women in Management Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), implored career women to leave their comfort zones and face their fears because, according to her, such fears might be real as experienced by everyone, but that it was important to face them in order to overcome them.

At the event which took place at the Bon Hotel in Abuja over the weekend with the topic: “Freeing Yourself from Fear”, Usman also enjoined women to be ready to take risks and push back every boundary that tended to limit them from success in the desires of their hearts.

Usman said that women in paid employment who could not find fulfilment, should leave such jobs to pursue their dreams as that was the only way they could find joy.

As part of the event, 15 new members from across the country were inducted as associates of the organisation by Olubunmi Aboderin-Talabi who is the Chairperson of WIMBIZ.
