The minister made the appeal yesterday while receiving the officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT Chapter led by Rev. Israel Akanji.
The Christian leaders paid the minister Christmas homage in his official residence, Gwarinpa I District, Abuja.
Mohammed who reiterated that peace opens doors to growth, development and prosperity called for continued peaceful co-existence amongst all the residents of FCT irrespective of political or religious differences.
He challenged religious leaders in the 36 states of the federation to emulate the exemplary ways of the FCT religious leaders to ensure that the whole nation is at peace.
Earlier, the FCT CAN Chairman, Rev. Israel Akanji prayed that Nigeria and its leadership will continue to be in peace and grow from strength to strength.
Earlier in the day, Bala and the FCT Minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide as well as the FCT Permanent Secretary Mr John Chukwu visited President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential villa.
In his Christmas Eve message on Tuesday, the minister urged residents to spread the, message of love, tolerance and peaceful co-existence as they celebrate Christmas.
Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister Muhammad Sule in a statement said the minister congratulated the residents, particularly Christians saying the celebration calls for sober reflections.
