The Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, has presented staff of office to the new Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi.
The ceremony, which took place at Aminu Kano Try-Angle, Dutse, on Saturday, was witnessed by thousands of well wishers across Jigawa and neighbouring states.
Badaru said the throne is the emir’s inheritance of his father’s legacy.
“We advised you to copy your father’s legacy and perfect leadership,” the governor added.
He prayed for the late emir of Dutse Alhaji, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, for his kindness and good leadership before during his lifetime and enjoined Allah to grant him paradise.

The governor also appreciated the presence of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the vice president-elect, Senator Kashim Shatima, the former governor of Jigawa State Dr. Sule Lamido, Plateau State governor, Simon Bako Along, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the emirs of Ringim, Hadejia, Gumel, Kazaure and Zazzau, Kaltingo, Zuru, Bauchi, among others.
In his speech, the decorated Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, urged the people to pray for him to discharge his responsibilities faithfully with fear of Almighty God.
He promised to do justice and continue with the legacy his father left.
He said, “I will continue with the legacy my father left and I will try my best to see that all the good things my father late emir did will with sustain and add to it”.
Sunusi said he would visit all the district areas of his jurisdiction to distribute the alms given to poor people.
“I will facilitate the distribution of alms collected by my late father then proceed to my task through alms collector (Sa’i),” he added.
The emir thanked dignitaries and well wishers who attended the event.
