Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has flagged off the construction of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) smart school in Hadejia Local Government Area of the state.
The governor represented by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia said the state government was determined to change the basic education teaching from analogue to digital.
He also said his administration would continue to partner with the UBEC to develop basic education at state and local government levels.
The UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr Hamid Bobboyi said the program would seek to establish model schools with information and technology-driven administrative and academic policies to cater for learners at the basic education level.
Bobboyi said if the exercise succeeds, the model would be replicated by the state.
On his part, the Emir of Hadejia, Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje called on the people of the area to give their maximum support to develop the education sector.
The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Muhammad Ayuba expressed the government’s commitment in ensuring the utilisation and implementation of matching grants based on the UBEC standard.
