Boko Haram insurgents have carried out a reprisal attack against the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), killing scores of them in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Boko Haram terrorists who in recent times suffered unprecedented defeat from their ISWAP counterparts coordinated the raid on Monday at the Bole and Yale camps of the ISWAP.

Recalled that the ISWAP had in a silent operation during the week stormed the home of Boko Haram insurgents in Gajibo, 95km from Maiduguri, Borno State capital, and eliminated six Boko Haram members whom they declared as infidels.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, the Boko Haram terrorists who vowed to revenge the killings of its Mujahedeens dispatched 60 fighters from Abu-Iklima’s camp to attack ISWAP.

Sources said the Boko Haram fighters overran the ISWAP insurgents, killing scores of them and recovering their weapons, motorcycles, money and other items after a serious battle.

One of the sources said, “The Boko Haram outnumbered the ISWAP as they were firing from three different positions.

“They later razed the makeshift houses of the ISWAP after making a sizeable number of them retreat amidst the intensive gun battle.

“But as the Boko Haram were returning from the attack, the ISWAP laid an ambush against them and killed three of them while others retreated,” the source said.

Daily Trust reported how ISWAP had stormed the enclaves of Boko Haram insurgents and unleashed terror on them killing their fighters in recent weeks.
