The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan- Ali, yesterday in Maiduguri met with the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, along with various commanders of Operation Lafiya Dole over recent attacks by the insurgents in the Lake Chad.
The minister said he was instructed to do so by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dan- Ali, who held a two-hour close-door meeting with all frontline commanders at the Military Control and Command Centre in Maiduguri, told journalists that he would immediately proceed to Chad for meetings.
“I am here on the instructions of Mr. President to come and see the happenings in Operation Lafiya Dole which I have been briefed by Chief of Army Staff and Commanders here present to know what is expected and what President should do to make sure things works.
“And I will take home the recommendations and briefing that were done by each and every commander here. In addition, I am heading to Chad to meet with their government.” Dan- Ali said.
Those at the meeting were Buratai, Chief of Training and Operation Army Maj. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, Theatre Commander Operations Lafiya Dole Major-Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, Acting GOC 7 Divisions Brig.- Gen. Bulama Biu, Commander Sector 2 Commander Sector 3, among others.
