Two civilian JTF commanders and their lieutenants were killed in a mine explosion near Ndufu village in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security and local sources told our correspondent that the incident took place around 10 am on Thursday.
A senior CJTF commander, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the victims encountered the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) buried by the roadside on their way to routine patrol in Ndufu town.
“The general commander of Gambarou, Bukar Goni, and the commander in charge of Ngala area, Malam Cede were among the six people in the car and they all died,” the source revealed.

Moreso, it was gathered that the team left Ngala town around 3 pm to patrol the Ndufu area.
“At the entrance of Duhu town, their vehicle (Hilux van) exploded on contact with (IED) and they all died,” he said.
Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State command, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, was unfruitful as he didn’t respond to calls or text messages sent to him.
