Speaking after the encounter, Egwueke, who was a visible figure in the central defence, said the team cannot claim to have arrived but there have been great improvement that those who hope to pick up shirts from the players will have to fight for it.
“We may not be 100 per cent yet but we are in good stead and the coaches have been helping us to build confidence, our communication on the pitch has also improved, so I think we have a very bright future with this team.
There are already indications that the national team will play another tune-up game on Sunday before travelling out to Liberia. Head Coach Stephen Keshi says the list of players for Liberia will be made public on Monday.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles handler Stephen Keshi on Wednesday night celebrated his 50th birthday, saying that he felt duty bound to mark his 50th birthday while his team is in camp because they have been bringing him joy.
“My wife and children had expected that we will mark my golden jubilee together but national duty calls and here I am. I could not also mark it on the day it fell on because the team was not in camp and I was also away from the country. So this is an opportunity to say a big thank you to God and to the Super Eagles for attaining the golden age”, Keshi stated.
