Nine persons have been wounded in a continuing violence in Bendeghe community of Stung Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The violence is alleged to be perpetuated by politicians with interest in the control of vast cocoa plantations.
Sponsored thugs and rival groups were said to have engaged themselves in gun battle while freely macheting innocent villagers.
Governor Ben Ayade has intervened and warned suspected politicians to cease hostilities.
Ayade spoke through his Special Adviser on Cocoa Development, Oscar Ofuka, who said Ayade had directed security agents to deal with the perpetrators of the violence.
