Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that the Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos State is prospering because of the prophetic utterances of the late sage and premier of the old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Sanwo-Olu made this statement after watching a stage musical drama performance titled ‘Awo: The Man, His Jewel and…’ produced by The Duke of Shomolu, a theatre company run by Joseph Edgar and directed by Makinde Adeniran.

The performance which was held at the Glover memorial hall in Lagos brought back the memory of Ibeju-Lekki where Awolowo was incarcerated for many months and from where he showered blessings on the community.
It also showcased the political life and times of the late sage and his wife, late Chief (Mrs) Hannah Dideolu Awolowo, who was described as ‘Jewel of inestimable value’ by her husband.
“No other place can be talked about in Nigeria now like Ibeju-Lekki, particularly Lekki town in the area of refineries, petrochemical plants and seaports, among others. Today, Papa Awolowo’s blessings have come true upon that town,” Sanwo-Olu noted in his address at the event.
