The Plateau State Police Command has cautioned residents of the state against patronising unauthorised motor parks to avoid abduction.
The spokesman of the command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, at its headquarters, on Wednesday, urged intending travellers to visit authorised car parks as precaution for their safety.
He said: “To avoid unintended consequences, members of the public are advised to be cautious and avoid patronising unauthorised parks so that they will not be victims to kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal elements.”
He however called on members of the public to observe the federal and state governments’ COVID-19 protocols, particularly, the Presidential Task Force (PTF)’s directives that social gathering should not be more than 50 persons indoors.
“It is hereby warned that the command has put in place measures to arrest and prosecute anyone or group contravening the said directives,” he declared.
“The command further wished to re-echo its earlier ban on the use of fireworks, bangers, knockouts, tricycle movement from December 25th to 26th and January 1st. We are pleading with parents/guardians to help guide their children and wards to be law-abiding as any offender would be arrested and prosecuted.”
