Aviation unions have called off the industrial action against the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, following a truce brokered by the Minister of State, Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika.
The unions announced the suspension after a two-hour close door meeting with the minister on Wednesday night.
Com. Illitrus D. Ahmadu, the National President, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), who briefed the press on behalf of the unions, said the government and the unions have reached an agreement.
Speaking on their specific demands, he said the issue of the revised organogram, which is core on the unions’ demands, will be revised by the ministry as the minister has agreed to some concessions.
He said the minister had promised the issue will be resolved in the next seven days.
On the issue of welfare, he said the minister promised to personally visit the Salaries and Wages Commission to get their revised staff condition of service approved.
On the issue of boards, the unions also agreed their was an abnormality in the constitution of the baords but the minister promised the government will soon resolve it.
In his remarks, the Minister of State Aviation, Hadi Sirika, acknowledged the grievances of the unions and also agreed the unions have all made significant concessions on their demands.
He also said a committee will be set up to review the NCAA organogram and submit its report in one week.
