Kano Pillars striker Auwalu Ali Malam, Plateau United’s Mustapha Ibrahim and Akwa United’s Ndifreke Effiong have forged ahead in the race to win the prestigious Eunisell Boot in this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The trio have scored 11 goals to lead the chasing pack.
Auwalu has been in superb form for Kano Pillars and the forward continued his performance by netting the two goals that ensured his club won 2-0 last Sunday in Kano.
Effiong, on the other hand, made sure that he remained as a contender for the Eunisell Boot when he scored an eighth-minute goal for Akwa United in Katsina where they picked a point after Katsina United rallied back to a 1-1 draw.
Plateau United’s Ibrahim hit a brace in yesterday’s 2-0 victory over visiting Kwara United to join the duo of Auwalu and Ndifreke on 11 goals.
However Auwalu, Effiong and Ibrahim will still have to look over their shoulders as Rangers striker Israel Abia with 10 goals is breathing down their neck.
The pair of Enyimba’s Victor Mbaoma is also in the running with nine goals.
