Auto crash claims 7 lives in Ekiti

Seven persons have lost their lives and several others injured in a road crash along Ilumoba/Aisegba road in Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Seven persons have lost their lives and several others injured in a road crash along Ilumoba/Aisegba road in Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The accident, which occurred at about 6 am on Tuesday, involved a luxurious bus with the registration number BDG-47-WT and one Hummer bus marked ABC-82-XH.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, said a team of traffic personnel from the Police and Federal Road Safety Corps was mobilised to the scene, took the injured to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti and evacuated the seven confirmed dead bodies to the morgue.

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Tunde Mobayo and the Deputy Governor of the state, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, visited the scene of the accident and the emergency unit of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), commiserated with the bereaved and prayed for speedy recovery to the injured.
