Four people over the weekend were killed and nine others injured in a road accident in Abudu community in Orhionmwon LGA of Edo State.

A witness explained that the bus was heading towards Warri in Delta State when the accident happened, with four persons dying on the spot and nine others injured.

However, the Edo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Paul Okpe, who confirmed the accident, said only two persons died.

He explained that one male and one female died while nine others sustained injuries, adding that the injured victims were taken to the hospital.

Speaking further, Mr Okpe said that no fewer than 11 persons were killed in road accidents in March, across the state.

He explained to journalists that 11 persons died in eight accidents, 24 were injured, while others escaped unhurt within the period under review.

Okpe noted that most of the crashes were as a result of brake failure, overspending, drunk driving, use of phone and route violation.
