Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the late All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, as a committed democrat who believed in the principle of the rule of law.
The turakin Adamawa prayed to God to grant Audu eternal rest in peace, extending his sympathy to the family, party and people of Kogi State over what he called the “tragic” death.
Atiku, in a statement issued in Abuja, said that he was “deeply” impressed by Audu’s politics, which was “built on passion for service and love for his people.”
The statement said it was rare to come across a politician with Audu’s “tenacity of purpose and conviction,” adding that the late Audu consistently pursued his ambition in civilised fashion, because “he always resorted to the courts whenever he was not satisfied with outcomes of the elections in which he participated.”
The statement described the late APC governorship candidate as a decent politician who did not believe in do-or-die politics.
