The presence of better infrastructure is one of the yardsticks that promotes, enhances and brings ease in imparting knowledge to students. Hence, the need for the  at all levels to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning activities.

The Borno State government, led by Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has done pretty well in providing good infrastructure and a conducive learning environment for its students which is laudable and should be celebrated by all well-meaning citizens.

It’s a fact that Borno has one of the best schools across the country. Government-owned mega schools are well equipped with befitting and state-of-the-art facilities. We thank the governor and the international organisations that helped the state to achieve.

However, there’s a need for the government to complement this conducive learning environment with qualified manpower, which is lacking in almost all these schools especially primary and junior secondary schools, which are the basic levels of education.

For more than a decade or so, primary school teachers have not been recruited. This has brought about a huge gap in the educational sector. Within the period, thousands of teachers have retired while others have died. There’s a need to fill in these vacancies by qualified teachers to improve service delivery in the state.

Borno is the worst-hit state by the activities of the insurgent group, Boko Haram, and since its main aim is to cripple education in the region there’s a need for the government to invest more resources in the education sector to defeat that aim.

Hence, I urge the government to recruit qualified teachers to run its schools. Moreover, it should train those unqualified teachers in its service to make them attain its lofty goal of providing quality education to the children.
